Note | The Archaeological Museum of Pievebovigliana has been recently established on the third floor of the Town Hall. It displays finds from the area around the small town, arranged in a thematic and diachronic order that enables us to retrace the historical development of this part of Le Marche territory. Together with prehistoric material, such as manufactured stone products and pottery, there are many finds from the site of Colle di S. Savino, that was subjected to Gallic occupation from the 4th to the 3rd century B.C. The archaeological finds in the necropolis of Lucciano testify to a human presence in the area between the 9th and the 6th century BC. and also to the commercial importance of the route along the valleys of River Nera and Chienti. In the centre of the room is displayed the most valuable piece: the Piceni epigraph from Fiordimonte. |
